Am I a Good Candidate for a Chemical Peel?

Although chemical peels are generally safe, there are some contraindications that would make it unsafe for a person to be treated.
- Pregnant or breastfeeding
- Taking Aspirin, using hydroquinone, or an allergy to phenol
- Use of oral isotretinoin (Accutane) within the last 6 months
- Active cold sores, warts, open wounds, herpes simplex virus (HSV)
- Chemotherapy and or radiation therapy within 6 months
- Autoimmune disease or liver disease, as well as any condition that may weaken the immune system
Will The Peel Burn?
The chemical peel used in our office is virtually painless. During the peel you may feel periods of warmness and tingling but your peel should not be painful.
How Long Will I Peel?
Generally, peeling of the skin does not occur until day 3 and can last up to 4 days. Please note, that everyone peeling experience is unique and some people may peel for fewer or more days depending on several factors with the skin.
